Nothing
fancy here, just trying to help people understand how the new features
work.
|
|
Step
1
Open
a new image, FILE/NEW. I made mine 500 x 200 white background
with 24 million colors. Then head on over to that dreaded style
palette and click and hold down your mouse until the pop out or flyout
appears. Click the paintbrush release the mouse.
|
| |
Step 2 Now choose the back one and
click the three bars/lines ( this is the gradient).
|
| |
|

Step
3 Now go back
and click the GRADIENT box once. (do not hold down) You
should then see a gradient dialog box in front of you. Click
the arrow and the available gradients will expand and choose one from
the previews. I choose the Electric Stripes. You should
then see your background box in the Style palette turn to match the
gradient you picked. Click your CONTROL panel and make sure
that antialias is checked.
|
| |
Step
4
Then
click the foreground style that we switched to the paint brush, solid
colored. Click it once and then you will be presented with your
color picker and choose a darker color, this will be the outline on
your text. Choose the text tool and set your setting to mine,
make sure it is a larger, wider font. Type in your name or whatever
you like and make sure that the FLOATING option is checked in the lower
right corner. If you want to see your text on the canvas clicked
that ugly eyeball in corner staring at ya. hee hee |
| |
|
You
should now see your text on the canvas with the marching ants
around the text. It should have the darker outline and
be filled with the gradient you choose similar to mine below.
|
|
|
|
| |
|
Step
5 Now you can add a drop shadow
or whatever you like. Choose EFFECTS, 3D and DROP SHADOW .
I gave mine a black shadow at 80% opacity, both offsets to 1 and the
blur to 3.5. The shadow "took a little" away from
the gradient so I went in and adjusted the brightness and contrast
just a tad under the text color menu at the top. I then added
a small border and filled with the same gradient and buttonized it.
And there you have the outlined gradient text.

I
know the changes are going to take some getting used too but I really
think that most everyone will grow to love the new PSP 7, just as
they did 6. People don't like change, self included but once
they get used to it they wonder how they lived without it.
:o)
If you are still needing help I have a small
help section started but not sure when I can complete it.
I am also slowly adding links to the PSP
7 links page as I run across them, it's getting bigger !!
